My Record label controls how I drop my music – Kuami Eugene
Award-winning highlife artiste Kuami Eugene has revealed that the decision-making process for his song releases lies entirely with his record label.
In an interview on TV3 X Spaces with Berla Mundi, the award-winning artiste disclosed that he lacks control over the release of his songs.
According to Eugene, he has no say in determining when his music hits the airwaves, as the responsibility falls squarely on the shoulders of his management team.
“The label decides when I put out songs and how many songs I put out a year. I don’t have even 1 percent control,” he stated.
“What record label does is they get together a bunch of people who do the work for you so they make the work easy in some ways but creative wise, you can be the most creative person on earth if it doesn’t sit well with one strong person who has that much power or that amount of power when it comes to decision making, it just another job.” Kuami Eugene stated.
The revelation sheds light on the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the artiste’s career, emphasising the role of record labels in shaping the trajectory of musicians’ releases.
The Lynx and Empire Music signee has released his new album dubbed “Love And Chaos” which is available on all streaming platforms.
