Nollywood actress Ini Edo has spoken candidly about her desire to wed and her surrogacy experience.
From 2008 until 2013, Edo was wed to businessman Philip Ehiagwina, who is located in America. Edo admitted that she regretted being married since she believed it was not the best choice for her.
“I regretted my decision to get married because it wasn’t just the right move to make,” she said in an interview with popular media personality Chude Jideonwo. “I felt pressured to get married by my family and friends, and I didn’t really want to do it.”
Edo claimed to be content with her decision to become a surrogate mother after suffering many miscarriages.
“I chose surrogacy because I had couples of miscarriages,” she said. “And I just got tired of trying. I don’t have a husband. So, I’m like, I want a child for myself whether I have a husband or not. So, what other options would I have? And I wanted it to be my child. My eggs. Thankfully, my eggs are good. So I did that.”
In 2021, Edo gave birth to a daughter, her first child. She expressed her gratitude for having a daughter and expressed excitement about seeing her grow up.
“I’m so happy to be a mother,” she said. “It’s the best feeling in the world. I’m so excited to watch my daughter grow up and learn new things.”
