Leaked: Teacher scores zero in Licensure exam

The results of the teacher licensure exams has stunned the entire country. Over 80% of the 7728 teachers who took the licensure exams failed. This has generated a lot of discussion on the importance of the teacher licensure certificate.

Former Director General of the Ghana Education Service has expressed his disappointment over the percentage of failures. The Former DG proposed a reduction of salary for those who failed the exams twice. His proposal he believes would force teachers to take the exams serious

“Teachers must begin to realize that we are serious about the profession and that we want serious people to be engaged in this whole exercise. We can’t continue with this kind of thing and let teachers always have their way”

Some teachers who saw the mass failure accused the National Teachers council of deliberately failing the candidates. Others alleged the national teachers council saw the licensure exam as a cash cow.

The NTC has however stuck to its original reason that the teachers who wrote the re-sit performed abysmally.

To prove that the mass failure is due to poor performance, someone from the NTC has leaked a sample of the exam paper. It shows a teacher answering a question highlighting a problem in ones community.

This is meant to shut down any voices alleging the NTC enjoys taking money from teachers instead of the NTC doing its professional work of safeguarding standards of teaching in the country.
