Gyakye Quayson is innocent – Kwesi Pratt
Kwesi Pratt Jnr bemoaned the injustices meted out to Gyakye Quayson. Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, the Editor of the Insight newspaper said folks in the NPP are condemning Mr. Quayson even before a verdict is reached in court.
“I’m sure you might have heard the gravamen of campaign against Gyakye Quayson in Assin North is that he is going to be convicted so people should not vote for him, that is incredible misbehavior but it is happening”.
Mr.Pratt noted that the laws of the country has declared Mr Quayson innocent until he is proven otherwise.
The Insight Newspaper’s editor, reiterated that the court’s decision towards Gyakye Quayson should be that it gives him the right to be voted for and to vote, stating that anything that undermines this right is an aberration that should be frowned upon.
“Gyakye Quayson like every other Ghanaian is entitled to vote in an election and to be voted for, and institutions of state have the duty to ensure that these two rights are guaranteed for every Ghanaian including Gyakye Quayson”.
Mr. Pratt says albeit the Attorney General has the right to decide the daily trial of Mr. Quayson, it is reasonable Ghanaians know the rationale behind it.
He hoped the courts will do the right thing in the interest of preservation of justice.
Meanwhile the Accra High Court resumes hearing on the review application brought before it to continue hearing the criminal case of James Gyakye Quayson on a day-to-day basis.
