We’re working to secure IMF deal by end of 2022 – Akufo-Addo
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and President Akufo-Addo may reach an agreement by the end of the year, according to hints made by the president. He predicts that a deal will be reached by December allowing the nation to receive the necessary bailout.
He predicts that a deal will be reached by the end of the month of December to grant the country the necessary bailout.
While we continue to work on the medium- to long-term structural changes that are at the core of our goal of building a resilient, robust Ghanaian economy and building a Ghana Beyond Aid, he believes that doing this will help “repair the short term of public finances and restore our balance of payment.”
The country is in an economic crisis leaving a dire impact on all sectors.
Ghana is currently knocking on the Fund’s doors asking for assistance as hardships, living expenses, and the value of the cedi all worsen.However, President Akufo-Addo reiterated that the government is committed to making sure that the economy is back on track in a speech to the country on Sunday.He stated on Sunday that “we are aiming to secure an agreement with the IMF by the end of the year.”
