The Builsa South member of Parliament Dr. Clement Apaak, lamented on Metro TV’s good morning Ghana the high cost of living of living in the country.
“As an anthropologist, I can tell you that from our background, the economy is a product of human social interaction, the economy is not some abstract entity. People are feeling the pinch, inflation is still over 40%, the currency, yes, has improved somewhat but clearly it’s not at where we want it to be. You have businesses still complaining about taxes, you have pensioners still complaining about their bond coupons not being paid, you cannot expect Ghanaians and the media to be singing hallelujah”
The Builsa South MP believes there’s no way out of the economy for the Nana Addo led administration in this financial crunch.
“I doubt whether you can get the job done before you (Nana Addo) exit, but the truth is that conditions are still very high. Ghanaians are finding ways to cope with the new reality but the complaints are still the same, the cost of living has not improved. Today where I come from, we are largely an agrarian society, so we grow crops, we rear animals, today, you cannot get a good size guinea fowl in Fumisi Market for less than 50 Ghana cedis and that is unheard of” he said.
