Fallouts from court: Court orders police to release Shatta Wale’s phones, Medikal’s case adjourned

The Circuit Court has ordered the Prosecution to hand over Shatta Wale’s cellphones.

The order was issued by a court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Essandoh on Tuesday, November 9, after his lawyer, Jerry Avenorgbo, asked the court to order the prosecution to release the phones to him.

The trial judge ruled that “it is not the defence’s job to assist the prosecution in making their case.”

“After all,” the court says, “the accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.”

Shatta is facing charges of false news publication after allegedly staging a fake gun attack on the award-winning musician’s life on Monday, October 18.

The case of Shatta Wale’s other musician colleague, Samuel Frimpong, also known as Medikal, has been postponed until December 7.

Medikal was apprehended by Ghana Police Service officers from the Accra Regional Command for allegedly brandishing a gun on social media.
