Gaming Commission of Ghana donates relief items to flood victims in Mepe

The Gaming Commission of Ghana has donated relief items worth GHC 40,000 to flood victims at Mepe in the North Tongu district of the Volta Region.

The items were bags of rice, soft drinks, new clothes and blankets, cartons of mosquito repellents, detergents among others.

Mrs Sena Dake the Director in charge of Finance and Administration who represented Mr. Peter Mireku the Games Commissioner led the delegation to donate the items.

According to her, the Commission was poised to extend their support to the people of Mepe in their challenging time.

She emphasized on the real challenges faced by the displaced people and indicated that though their operations cut across the area, it was not the reason they were donating the items.

“Mepe is one of our operational zones but for now, we’re not focusing on business. We want our people to be safe and healthy first in this situation, then we can continue business”. She explained.

Mrs. Dake stated that the Commissioner had other plans to give support to the victims in other parts of the region with the aim to join hands with other donors to give comprehensive solution to the plight of the residents.

She handed the items to Mr. Osborn Fenu the District Chief Executive and charged him to ensure that all the flood victims in the district got a share.

Mr. Fenu assured that the items would be fairly distributed and thanked the leadership of the Commission for extending thier support to the victims.

Togbe Kwasi Nego VI Mankralo of Mepe also lauded the Commission for the kind gesture.

He urged them to offer more support to them victims most especially in the aspect of livelihood restoration as life was coming back to normalcy.
