Ohemaa Mercy Raises A Concern About Corporate Ghana Not Supporting Gospel Events

Popular Gospel musician, Ohemaa Mercy, has raised a concern about corporate Ghana not supporting Gospel events in the country.

She underscored how Gospel events are struggling when speaking with Graphic Showbiz ahead of this year’s Tehillah Experience.

According to her, most Gospel events are on ‘life support’—and need to be rescued.

If corporate Ghana does not support, Ohemaa said these events may not survive.

“For me, I think corporate institutions don’t really understand the business of gospel music. Oftentimes, they believe they shouldn’t meddle in religious activities. So it’s not even about it being a Christian event,” she stated.

“However, the situation is really dire because a lot goes into getting a good production for an event and here is the case where we mostly struggle to get corporate sponsorship.

“Meanwhile, the few that are probably willing to come on board may not be able to do so because certain brands cannot be associated with God’s business.

“There are restrictions and all these are working against us, putting most gospel events on ‘life support’ because of huge financial burdens. Whereas our colleague secular artistes are grabbing all the big sponsorships even though we sometimes put together better shows,” Ohemaa Mercy added.

Though it is difficult to organize Gospel events without sponsorship, she advised her colleagues not to give up.

“Embracing your calling is crucial as an up-and-coming artiste. When you understand your purpose and God’s plan for you, you’ll recognise that challenges are a natural part of the journey. These challenges foster maturity and growth.

“Instead of resisting them, accept them as opportunities for self-improvement, whether financial or otherwise. Remember, God’s intention is to refine and elevate you, not to hinder or embarrass you so keep going even without sponsorship,” the multiple-award-wining Gospel artiste averred.

She was however grateful to all those who have been supporting her over the years to make her event, Tehillah Experience a success.

“We’re thrilled to have Frytol and Telecel on board this year as sponsors, along with several generous individuals who are also supporting us”, Ohemaa added.

Themed “Tehillah The Bethel Experience”, this year’s event by Ohemaa Mercy will be held at the Oil Dome, Royal House Chapel International in Accra on Saturday, September 8, 2024.

Money shouldn’t be the focus of your career – Ohema Mercy counsels young musicians

Multiple award-winning Gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy has counseled upcoming musicians not to make money the main focus in their bid to grow in the industry.

According to her, it is only the hard work and good message the artistes put into the music that brings blessings and riches to them.

“If you are into coming to the industry, money should not be the focus. The most important thing is to have a message that will impart on the lives of people. That is where the blessings come from”. Ohemaa Mercy said in an interview .

She further revealed that “mostly I get so many blessings from the testimonies that have come out of my ministry and somebody will see you, buy a car for you and give you a house”.

“Blessings come when you allow God to be at the centre and leader, then He will course men to bless you”, she advised.
