BoG Governor, Deputies will be prosecuted – Ablakwa
Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has assured the people of Ghana that the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his deputies will be prosecuted.
According to him, the ongoing demonstration to call for their resignation is the first step in many of the things they intend to do to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
To him, the governor’s mismanagement of the central bank cannot be counternanced, and he will have to pay dearly what he has done to the people who entrusted him with power.
“When they resign, it sends a clear message that when you’re given the opportunity to hold public office and you mismange, totally violate laws, and destroy livelihoods, you’ll pay the ultimate prize.
His resignation is only the first step in our demands. After that, we will make sure he is prosecuted. That is why one of our colleagues has petitioned the office of the Special Prosecutor,” he said while speaking to GhOne at the ongoing #occupyBoG demonstration.
The Minority Caucus in Parliament and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are leading a protest today to demand the resignation of the governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, and his two deputies.
The action follows the Central Bank’s loss of GH¢60.81 billion in the 2022 fiscal year and the use of over $250 million for the construction of a new headquarters at North Ridge.
